The beach in January

We just had to get out of this cold, damp and foggy Sacramento January So.... off to the beach for a little sun and surf.

Seacliff State Beach,South of Santa Cruz in Aptos, is indeed a special place. The camp spaces are close together... that's the bad news. The good news is that we are right on the beach. We sit in the trailer and look out the back window at the surf and all the creatures out there.

We did have to leave and go up on the bluff for two days due to high surf. It didn't get really bad but better to be up on high ground than wishing we were.
The walk along the campground provides us with hours of "people watching" fun. It's busy most times of the day and people stop and chat. We meet people from all areas and hear their stories. And, of course, we spin some yarns of our own.

On Friday morning the day arrived with some beautiful clouds. The structure in the water is a cement ship from WWII days. It's now a fishing pier when the weather permits. We left the sun and headed home to gloom and cold but what a great pause from the January blahs.
